He pursues debates in psychoanalysis and cultural theory in relation to two representative male characters in novels by Rudy Wiebe (A Discovery of Strangers) and Robert Kroetsch (The Man from the Creek).

Paul Nonnekes is an Associate Professor in the Master of Arts Integrated Studies program at Athabasca University. His research focuses on issues of gender and sexuality, specifically psychoanalysis and love, and critical theory.
